Tamworth Community Garden

The idea of the Tamworth Community Garden was thought of in 2020 and brought to life in 2023. Rotary First Light adopted the project and the garden is run by a determined team of ten members who meet monthly. A generous Landcare grant helped to get the project started which saw the construction of a wildlife-proof fence and four large garden beds. Since then they have had a very successful yield of vegetables, fruits and herbs that are free for the community at all times.

We have been overwhelmed by the support of businesses around town and other community groups. While the Garden is still only young, we have huge plans in the way of composting systems, additional garden beds, fruit trees and a children’s sensory garden and play area to name just a few. Our ultimate goal is to bring the community together through the production of fresh produce and the love of gardening. We would love to educate people on how to grow their own
food and to encourage being outdoors in nature.
